Aleksandra Orzeł-Jakubowska won the first prize 7th edition of Professor Jerzy Jakubowski competition for the best master’s thesis concerning arbitration and mediation. Her thesis, titled The Essence and Legal Character of Arbitration Agreement in the Perspective of Polish and Swedish Law, was prepared prepared under the supervision of Professor Jerzy Rajski from the University of Warsaw.
The winning theses were selected by the jury: chairman Andrzej Szlęzak, PhD, legal advisor, member of the Arbitral Council of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce, members: Prof. Zbigniew Banaszczyk, Prof. Zbigniew Ćwiąkalski, Prof. Marian Kępiński, Maciej Łaszczuk, Piotr Machnikowski, PhD, Małgorzata Modrzejewska PhD, Rafał Morek, Prof. Krystyna Szczepanowska, Maciej Tomaszewski, PhD, Prof. Andrzej. W. Wiśniewski, Cezary Wiśniewski, PhD, Krzysztof Zakrzewski.
The biennial Competition for the best master thesis has been organised by the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce (SA KIG) for 14 years. The first edition was held in 2003. Participation in the Competition gives the winners opportunities to publish their theses, begin their arbitration careers and cooperate with the top domestic and international law firms.
