Michał Chodkowski is a partner heading the labour law practice at Łaszczuk & Partners.

He specializes in labour and social insurance law.

For almost 20 years, he has been advising Polish and international companies on individual and collective labour law, in particular on employment optimization, conducting group layoffs, and transfers of workplaces. He advises on all aspects of HR management, the selection of forms of employment, including the employment of board members.

Michał assists clients in developing HR strategies and employee management schemes, including in matrix structures. He supports employers in implementing internal policies, procedures and regulations, both those required by law and those introduced at the initiative of employers. He represents employers in disputes with employees before labour courts.

He is the President of the Polish HR Association (PSHR), a member of the Board of HR Directors of the Lewiatan Confederation and the National Code Administrator of the Polish Direct Selling Association (PSSB).

Michał is a frequent speaker at conferences dedicated to legal issues related to employment, including those concerning CSR and ESG. He is a lecturer in the postgraduate Compensation & Benefits program and Human Capital Management program at Łazarski University, and in the Executive MBA Direct Selling/MLM program at the Pedagogium University of Social Sciences.

In 2024 the Polish Ranking of Law Firms of Rzeczpospolita business daily recommends him in the field of labour law.

Michał joined Łaszczuk & Partners in 2005 and has been a partner since 2013.

• Supporting a client from an international group of companies from the IT sector in implementing a plan for structuring forms of employment and advising on risks connected with hiring of foreigners transferred to Poland from another country in Eastern Europe

• Representing a client from an international group of companies in a dispute with a former employee involving payment of benefits from a stock incentive program implemented by the employer’s parent company totalling about PLN 1.5 million

• Supporting a client from the manufacturing industry in implementing employee pension schemes for a group of four employers employing a total of nearly 3,000 people

• Supporting clients from the manufacturing, service and construction industry in monitored group layoffs covering groups from several dozen to several hundred employees

• Supporting a client from the electronic payment industry in implementing corporate employee incentive mechanisms in Poland, including RSU schemes

• Developing a strategy and advising a company from an international group in the construction industry in a matter involving an employee’s breach of internal procedures on client relations and gift-giving

• Developing a strategy and advising a company from an international IT group in a matter involving a manager’s breach of policies for settling business expenses

• Developing a strategy, advising and representing a company from an international IT group in cases of former employees involving the employees’ breach of internal rules and procedures for participating in foreign travel
